Hueber named to Nicklaus Award watch list
NORMAN, Okla.- In an announcement released by the Golf Coaches Association of America, UIndy junior Justin Hueber has been named to the watch list for the 2008 Jack Nicklaus Award. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native joins 17 other Division II golfers on the list. Four awards are given annually, one to the Player of the Year in all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA.
Hueber is averaging a career-best 72.2 strokes per round this season, good for the lowest single-season average in school history. He has notched 11 sub-par rounds, including a school-record tying 65 in the first round of the Cougar Southern Classic Mar. 11.
The Nicklaus Award recipients will be named immediately following the final round of each respective national championship. All four Nicklaus Award honorees will be invited to Muirfield Village for the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, just outdside Nicklaus’ hometown of Columbus to receive their trophies from Mr. Nicklaus. Additionally, a 20-player All-Nicklaus Team - which will include outstanding players from NCAA Divisions I, II and III and the NAIA - will be named June 10.
As a team, the Greyhounds have placed in the top three in nine of eleven events this year, including three team titles. UIndy’s next action comes at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships Apr. 13-15. The three-day tournament will be held at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Ind.

Two former Lady Lions help Bethel College Win Cougar Invite

They shot 665 over two days to win the Saint Francis Cougar Invite at Noble Hawk Golf Links in.
The Pilots were led by two top three finishers in Shanna Page and Brooke Gilbert. Page shot 79 on day two for a two day total of 153 and a second place finish. Gilbert had 80 and a two day total of 164 to finish third. Kara Ballinger (Sauder) had a two day total of 173 to finish 8th.
“This was one of the worst days, weather wise, I have ever been apart of on a golf course, said Bethel head coach Danny Randolph. “We did some good things on day two but we are obviously disappointed in our score. It is always fun to win and we did an outstanding job on day one to put ourselves in a position to win.”
